Learn about Career Center Services

The Career Center is a friendly, knowledgeable, and comprehensive career resource dedicated to outstanding customer service by providing collaborative, quality programs and services that connect students, faculty, alumni, and employers. We strive to empower students and alumni to attain satisfying careers through the development of individualized education and career paths. Summary of Services Available for Students:

  • On-Campus & Online Recruiting Services (through CareerRAM):
    • Job Listings. View new job and internship announcements sent to The Career Center by employers in Colorado and across the United States. All opportunities are categorized by major, so you can look at your specific area of interest.
    • On-Campus Interviews. Employers come to conduct these interviews on campus, and you can view schedules through CareerRAM. Here is the schedule of all on-campus interview deadlines.
    • Information Sessions. Come listen to employers discuss their company and career opportunities on campus.
    • Resume Referral Program. If you are interested in having your resume referred to employers you may post your resume electronically.
  • Career Counseling:
    • Generalist Career Counselors and Liaison Counselors are available to provide individualized career guidance for exploring majors, careers, and occupations. Career counseling services are free for current students and alumni within the first year following graduation.

  • Career Center Assessments:
    • Discover the "person-environment" fit that best meets your needs through a variety of career assessments. Through an initial intake with a career counselor, it may be determined that a career assessment instrument may help to identify interests, skills, and personality attributes.
  • Walk-In Counseling:
    • These are 15 minute question-and-answer sessions, available on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary.
    • Walk-ins are held every Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM in the Career Center @ Lory Student Center in room 116 LSC.
  • Resume Creation with OptimalResume:
    • OptimalResume is an online service licensed by the Career Center that allows CSU students to create professional quality resumes, even if they don't have lots of prior resume writing experience. You can learn more here, or login to OptimalResume now if you already have an account.
  • Job & Internship Search Preparation:
    • Resume and Cover Letter Critiques. Bring your resume or cover letter for a review by one of our Career Center counselors during walk-in hours, as described above. You may also contact The Career Center at (970) 491-5707 to schedule an individual appointment.
    • Practice Interviews. Contact a Generalist Career Counselor or Liaison Counselor to schedule a videotaped practice interview appointment to assist in building skills for your interviews with employers.
    • Job Search Information. Search for job postings through CareerRAM, as well as tips and strategies for a successful job search.
  • Career Fairs:
    • The Career Center sponsors several annual Career Fairs. Career fairs are an excellent opportunity to speak to employers about career trends and potential employment opportunities.
  • Career Workshops and Presentations:
    • Career Development Workshops provide ongoing opportunities for the exchange of information on Resumes, Job Search, Interviewing, and How to Market Yourself to Employers.
  • Career Resource Library:
