Choosing a Major

Everyone goes about choosing a major or career differently. Some students prefer to choose a major first; whereas other students may choose a career first and then find a major that can help them prepare for that career. Ideally, you will work to ensure that your major or career matches with you own interests, skills and values.

In order to explore careers, we’ve provided many sites where you can learn about careers—or occupational information. The sites that provide you occupational information will enable you to learn about the "day in the life of " someone who does a career that you will be interested in. We would recommend using these resources to do you own research on majors and careers and layer this information with a meeting with a Career Counselor to help you clarify your search for a major or career that is a good fit.
